Author christoph quarch talks about the art of free decisions
Christoph quarch reads excerpts from his latest book publication "not thinking is not a solution either". The event begins on thursday, 21. June, at 19.30 o'clock in the gallery form+color, bahnhofstrabe 19. Quarch has a doctorate in philosophy, is a book author, and a much sought-after speaker. He advises companies, teaches at various universities and organizes philosophy trips. He is now a guest for the fourth time at the bruckenauer sinn-gesprachen in the form+ farbe gallery.
With his lecture he gives his audience entertaining and inspiring thought-provoking ideas from philosophy as a decision-making aid. He shows what guides human thinking and how free decisions are made.
Every day there are many decisions for each of us to make. Every action, no matter how automated it may be, expresses a decision. Many everyday activities and tasks do not require any elaborate considerations. But it is not at all rare for conscious decisions to be made – often in minor, not infrequently in moderately serious matters, and certainly here and there at points where they have a major impact, both professionally and privately, and have tangible consequences. To know or to stay? To give up or to persevere? Separation or a new beginning? From the most trivial to the most important – the question of what to do always catches up with you and is rarely easy to answer. This is where quarch comes in: entertaining, informative and practical, he identifies the factors that play a role in decision-making and shows ways in which we weight and take them into account.
